When can I get a 2017 Volkswagen Pink Beetle?

If it doesn’t seem like a new color option should be followed by a whole lot of fan fair, you haven’t been spending too much time sitting around various shades of black, beige and silver. Here at Findlay North VW, we can assure you that drivers aren’t finding nearly enough variety in the available color options, and those who’ve been coveting bright pink hues have long been left disappointed. Ever since the model was first shown last year at the 2015 NYIAS, we’ve been asked, “When can I get a 2017 Volkswagen Pink Beetle?”

Maybe simply calling a car a color name is a bit, well, boring? Pink might be more vibrant than the standard options on the market, but you don’t run around calling a car a red Golf, right? Our point being, that hashtag you see is no accident. Volkswagen decided to try something different to make the name stand out a bit more, and so named the car after its own hashtag. Whether this is a smart way to get the name to stick remains to be seen, but since it’s a limited-edition Beetle anyway, it’s also possibly the quickest way to keep track of updates so you don’t miss out.

So when, exactly, can you get behind the wheel of the #PinkBeetle? The model has a release date set for this fall and will be released as a 2017 model year. No word has been given yet on the exact pricing, but our prediction is somewhere around $25,000 or higher. Keep in mind it has more stylistic enhancements than just a fresh coat of paint, and the standard features offer a fine assortment of benefits.

Standard features and performance specs for the 2017 #PinkBeetle

The main thing that sets the #PinkBeetle apart from other Beetles is definitely its styling. It has the same 170-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and the model comes standard with the six-speed automatic transmissions with Tiptronic mode and steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. When it comes to driving dynamics, you won’t suffer for style.

Nothing much will change between the models aside from the obvious roofline, and the convertible earns 18-inch Twister wheels as opposed to 17-Inch Linas wheels for the coupe. Otherwise both options come in the Fresh Fuchsia Metallic color with contrasting gloss black mirror caps and black running boards. The interior has GTI-inspired Pink Club plaid upholstery and a black dashboard.

Standard features in the model include keyless access with push-button start, Bluetooth connectivity, the 6.3-inch MIB II infotainment system with App-Connect and heated front seats.
