Findlay North VW customers will be able to consider two engine options when they are outfitting their 2021 Volkswagen Atlas. Entry-level trim grades will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder engine that will make 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Potential owners can also have a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter, V-6 power plant under the hood that will make 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Both VW engines employ an eight-speed automatic transmission.
On the other side of the equation, the 2021 Kia Telluride uses a naturally aspirated V-6 engine of its own. It will make 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. While the Kia engine makes more horsepower, both crossover SUV will be able to tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
Both the 2021 Atlas and 2021 Telluride will have three rows of seats. The 2021 VW Atlas will have room for seven passengers and the 2021 Kia Telluride can have room for seven or eight people – depending on which trim they choose. Where the 2021 Atlas really moves ahead of its Kia competitor is cargo volume.
When the 2021 VW Atlas is holding three rows worth of passengers, there will still be 20.6 cubic-feet of cargo volume to use. Folding that seat away will make 55.5 cubic-feet available, with a maximum cargo volume of 96.8 cubic-feet possible when properly configured. The 2021 Telluride has 21 cubic-feet behind its third row, but it fails to meet the mark set by the 2021 Atlas the rest of the way. Owners of the 2021 Kia Telluride will only have a maximum of 87 cubic-feet of cargo volume to use.
